Delivering EPA best practice

Goldsmith is an industry leader in the landfill space. We are one of only a select few in Victoria who can deliver landfill projects not only on time, but most importantly to the EPA’s strict Best Practice Environmental Management standards. During the past 12 years, we’ve constructed more than 30 landfill cells, caps and leachate ponds and have also managed the acceptance and burial of waste at landfill sites both in Victoria and the ACT.

OUR CAPABILITIES
_________

  • Clay, GCL, HDPE and LLDPE liners
  • Geocomposite and aggregate leachate drainage layers
  • Cushion and separation geotextile layers
  • Landfill gas extraction and leachate collection systems
  • Groundwater drainage systems and pumps
  • Waste relocation and disposal, including asbestos materials
  • Independent verification by third party quality assurance consultants and EPA appointed environmental auditors

PROJECTS

WOLLERT LANDFILL
CELL 13 AND 14
_________

  • Two composite-lined landfill cells each covering 5.5ha at Hanson’s Wollert Landfill
  • 210,000m3 of bulk earthworks including 72,000m3 of compacted clay liner

  • Construction of a 4ha composite lined landfill cap of Cells 7 and 8 using GCL, LLDPE and drainage geocomposite covered with 1m thick scalps. Works included ancillary roads, drainage and modification to leachate reinjection and gas extraction systems
  • Construction of a 2ha interim landfill cap of Cell 8 including geocomposite liner, 500mm thick layer of scalps, ancillary roads and drainage

DRYSDALE LANDFILL
CELLS 5 AND 6
_________

  • Construction of two 4.5ha landfill cells for the City of Greater Geelong
  • The composite lined cells included clay, GCL and HDPE liners
  • 3.5km of HDPE leachate collection pipelines and 300mm thick drainage aggregate layers
  • Relocation of 40,000m3 of asbestos contaminated waste to the active cell
  • Construction of a lysimeter trial pad for the proposed evapotranspiration cap

MARYVALE LANDFILL
